Surviving the Pandemic: What does that even mean?

It's October 13, 2021, and some people here in the US are decorating and making plans for Halloween. They're trying to gain a sense of normalcy with an age old tradition of fall decorations, costumes, and candy. They're trying to resume a life that was put on pause by a global pandemic.

However, that is not the case for a lot of other people...people that are still grieving losses. For some, it is the loss of a loved one or several loved ones, the loss of a job, the loss of financial stability, the loss of a home, etc. There is another loss that needs to be addressed as well, though, the loss of self.

Although there were those who found their purpose, new hobbies, and even new businesses with the extra time they had on their hands, others drowned in depression and anxiety. At first, they didn't feel the same despair at the beginning of the pandemic. They simply thought, oh now people know what I go through on a daily basis. But then, as time went on the isolation and the fear dragged them into a deeper despair, a deeper hell if you will, than the one they already struggled with.

The long endless days dragged on, creating more chaos in their brains. Scenarios of what ifs played out in their heads and "normal" anxiety turned even more crippling than before. Sleep became coveted even though they'd had plenty of sleep already. Then there were the self-deprecating remarks in their heads (sometimes verbalized) telling them how they'd failed at life, failed at a time that everyone on social media seemed to be thriving. This only made for a never ending cycle of self-loathing, which in turn exasperated anxieties and sunk them deeper into depression.

Why are you writing such a downer of a post? you may ask. I'm writing to let you know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. So many of us went through this or continue to go through this. In a world where it's so easy to forget the struggles of others, I want you to know

I SEE YOU.

YOU MATTER.

Today is not your day to lie down and let go. No. Today is your day to say, I will take each minute, one by one, and find a tiny bit of light to help me reach that next minute. The only thing you need to do is make it through the minute you're living in. Take a few deep breaths. Feel the virtual warm hug I am sending out to you.

You have not failed at life! Although you may not see it, you have impacted so many lives and are meant to impact many more. Your time is not over. Whether it be for a few more days, months, years, or decades, you are where you need to be and your impact on others can be powerful.

Love one another. Cheer on those who've found success, but don't forget to cheer on those who are struggling. But most of all, don't forget to cheer yourself on. You deserve it.

All my love,

Jen

Release Day Blitz: Midnight Rose by Dani Hart

Title: Midnight Rose
Author: Dani Hart
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
Release Date: Feb 13, 2017
Add to TBR - http://bit.ly/2lh13ia

Synopsis:

My grandfather had once told me that life was an unpredictable beast—one moment calm with a full belly and heavy eyes, and the next, digging its paws in the dirt, snarling just before it took down its next victim. Until recently, I would argue with that notion, listing all the reasons why my life was as predictable as the tides coming and going. While I listened, I was young and never put much thought into a lot of the things my grandfather told me, but all that changed when the Hunters moved back to Sandpoint. More specifically, Wes Hunter. That was when the impossible became possible and the predictable became unpredictable.

As Abigail Rose looked down on her new world, she couldn’t deny the things she had seen and all the things she had learned. There were days she wished she could go back to her old life, but she had changed. Evolved. She was no longer a love-struck seventeen year old. She was a chosen leader and her path was undeniable. The black and white was fading to gray, and the only thing between mortals and immortals was her.

It's almost 2017!

Can you believe there are only a few more days left of this year? It has been a year that most are wishing would end already. With the number of celebrities that have left this world and many of the worldwide events that have occurred, it is no wonder everyone is anxiously awaiting the new year. A new year means HOPE. It means NEW BEGINNINGS. It means POTENTIAL.

I am looking forward to 2017. I have many projects on the horizon that I cannot wait to share with you.

As some of you know, the long-awaited 4th installment of The Diamond Mini-Series titled Fusion was recently released. It is just as fast-paced and action-packed as Books 1-3, and just as the others, it starts where the last one left off. I am currently working on the 5th and final installment of this series. It will tie up all of the loose ends and reveal many unexpected secrets.

On another note, Nerves of Steel is only days away from its release. YES! You heard right. Nerves of Steel is almost here! It is in the final stages of editing and, as you may know, it has had a cover for a while now. I am aiming for a 2016 release, so cross your fingers and wish me luck!!!

I have set a goal for 2017. I would like to try to release one book every other month for a minimum of 6 books, but that number may increase. As I said before I have many WIPs. I have been working on some of them here and there, so it is only a matter of time before their completion. Book 2 in The Praestes Series and Book 2 in the Woodport Series are two of those books. I also have my NaNoWriMo 2016 novel, Just a Kiss, which is currently being edited and revised.

2017 looks promising.

I truly hope the New Year brings lots of love, happiness, peace, and prosperity to all of you. Leave behind the old. Leave behind 2016. Leave behind any negativity. Look forward to the new. Look forward to 2017. And most of all look forward with positivity.

Happy New Year! Happy 2017!

What I've Been Doing

I know it's been a while since I've updated this blog. Most of my updates are on my Facebook page since it is more easily accessible wherever I am.

Here are a few things I would like to update you on:

1)I have updated my website jmzuniga.com

2)I have added a blog to the website in order to integrate everything in one place. You will have blog updates, links to my social media, and buy links to my books.

3)I am currently working on several projects. The most recent project I completed the was editing and revising of Winter Rayne: A Praestes Novel. I also changed the cover on it. I won't give deadlines for my current projects, so as not to disappoint. (Health issues are fickle.)

4)All my books are available through my website for the same price as on my Amazon.com page + S&H. All shipping and handling price is determined by the USPS Postage Calculator. International shipping will be determined on a case by case basis. (In other words, it depends on where you live and if it is legal to ship there.)

Once I have more concrete updates on my projects, I will post them. Make sure to you keep up with my Facebook page for the most accurate and up to date posts.
